Programs for 2006:
It is estimated that over 200 Sillalaian families live in Ontario of which only a small fraction has subscribed for membership in the Association. We plan to locate them and encourage them to join the Association.

A fundraiser is being planned for later this year (2006) to form the nucleus for a “Higher Studies Loan Fund”; the Fund will be used to give out loans to Sillalai Residents wanting to pursue higher studies (Undergraduate/Professional).

Release a Magazine to mark the fifth anniversary of the Association.

Main events sponsored by the association:
The Feast of Blessed Joseph Vaz, the Co-Patron of our Village, is celebrated annually with a Festive Mass commemorating his birthday in April.

The Feast of Kathirai Chelvi is celebrated in August in a grand scale with better participation of members and families.

Tamil Speech and Recitation contests are conducted in October to students of different age groups in order to promote and encourage proficiency in Tamil.

Winners and all participants are awarded Trophies and Certificates.

The Annual General Meeting is held in December along with Christmas get-together.

The Christmas get-together also features cultural programmes, children’s Christmas party and a grand dinner.
